A husky safari is a truly special way to meet the dogs and experience Lapland from a new perspective.

We offer husky safaris for small and medium-sized groups in both summer and winter. You will be welcomed by our friendly, open-minded Alaskan huskies, who are more than happy to take you on an unforgettable journey into Lappish nature. During the safari, you will get to know our dogs and learn what everyday life on a working husky farm is really like.

We always make sure that every guest enjoys a genuine and personal experience with both the dogs and the surrounding nature. All safaris are led by an experienced guide who ensures that the experience is smooth, safe, and enjoyable from start to finish.

Below you can find detailed descriptions of our seasonal safari options.

Summer Safari – A Walk into the Quiet of the Summer Forest

During summer, the safari focuses on getting to know the dogs and daily life at the husky farm, followed by a guided walk through the forest together with the dogs. After the walk, we enjoy light refreshments and relaxed time together at the farm.

The walking route and difficulty level can be adjusted to suit the group, and guests will have the opportunity to walk the dogs on a leash. On warm summer days, the safari ends with a refreshing visit to a nearby river where the dogs can cool off – and guests are welcome to take a dip as well, if they wish.

What to expect?

  • Duration: approx. 3 hours

  • Suitable for all ages. Route options: 2 km, 7 km, or 14 km

  • Group size: 2–10 people

  • Price: €70 per person (Children under 12: half price, children under 3: free)

Winter Safari – Experience Dog Sledding Across Snow-Covered Landscapes

In winter, the safari includes an introduction to dog sledding, a guided sledding tour, and time to meet the dogs up close. Guests will have the chance to drive their own dog sled, creating a unique and powerful connection with both the dogs and the surrounding wilderness.

Before heading out, all participants receive clear instructions on how to drive and handle the sled safely. There are two route options available, with the shorter route being especially suitable for families with children and younger participants.

After the sledding tour, we gather for light snacks, warm drinks, and relaxed time at the farm, learning more about life on a husky farm and about Alaskan huskies as a breed.

During winter safaris, guests are typically divided into pairs (two people per sled), and drivers switch halfway through the route. Group arrangements are always made flexibly, taking individual needs and preferences into account. For example, children and parents do not need to ride on separate sleds unless they wish to.
Please note that dog sledding requires good physical condition. If you are unsure whether the winter safari is suitable for you, feel free to contact us before booking.

FAQ

How should I dress for a winter dog sledding safari?

Weather conditions can vary, and it is always easier to remove layers than to add them. We strongly recommend dressing warmly using layers. Please wear warm winter boots and wool socks (real wool works best). A warm hat and gloves or mittens are essential – mittens are warmer than gloves. We provide reindeer hides and wool blankets in the sleds.

Is dog sledding safe? What if the dogs go too fast?

Before each safari, all participants receive thorough instructions on how to drive the sled, including how to slow down and stop safely. An experienced guide is always present to assist and ensure safety throughout the safari.

Do I need prior experience to join a husky safari?

No previous experience is required. We guide all participants carefully before the safari, and each experience is adapted to the group’s needs. Please note, however, that winter dog sledding requires good physical condition. If you are unsure whether the safari is suitable for you, feel free to contact us in advance.

Can I pet or meet the dogs up close?

Yes. Meeting the dogs is an essential part of the husky safari. In addition to petting and greeting them, guests can also teach the dogs simple tricks during summer safaris if they wish.

Do I need special equipment, and can I bring a backpack?

We recommend dressing appropriately for the season. In winter, dress warmly as described above, and in summer wear comfortable clothing suitable for walking in the forest. Sneakers or hiking shoes work well. You are welcome to bring your own backpack.
